Wonderful Ways to Use Honey

Most people probably think that the only thing honey is good for is a sweetener or for baking purposes, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Believe it or not, you can use honey for a lot more than just putting it in our foods and beverages. Here are some great ways that you can use honey that I bet you never knew about! Some are still edible ways but I know I never thought of using it this way.

Honey Moisturizer

Yep, you can make your own moisturizer out of it. All you need to do is gather up some sweet smelling herbs like lavender for example and use it for your moisturizer. Just take some honey and warm it up in a saucepan on your stove until it turns into a liquid. Then take the liquid honey and pour it over the herbs you picked. Make sure you use a container or jar with a lid then put the lid on and let it sit for a week and then take 1 teaspoon of this and add it to an 8 ounce bottle of lotion that’s not scented and you have your very own honey moisturizer.

Make a Honey Salad

This is a great fruit salad and it helps to enhance all the natural sugars of the fruit. All you need is the following:

•    1 cantaloupe chopped into cubes
•    3 nectarines chopped up
•    4 tablespoons of fresh chopped basil
•    2 tablespoons of honey

Mix it all together and you have a simple yet extremely delicious fruit salad.

Give Yourself a Honey Facial

That’s right a honey facial! Honey has antimicrobial properties and your skin will really benefit from this. All you need to do is make a basic honey wash by taking a scoop of honey and adding two tablespoons of warm water and mix together. Then massage this honey mixture on your skin. That’s all there is to it.

Cleaning Scrapes and Cuts With Honey

Honey is a natural antiseptic and it can be used to treat not only cuts and scrapes but also to treat burns. Just take the honey as is and put on any cut, scrape or burn you might have and it will heal it as fast as Neosporin does.

Get Rid of a Hangover Faster

Party too much the night before and feel horrible the next day? No problem, honey to the rescue. Forget about that aspirin or ibuprofen, just take some honey and put it on some toast or add it to your tea or coffee. Honey has a ton of fructose and this will help speed up your metabolism to get rid of the alcohol that is causing the hangover.

Soften Those Dry Elbows

Scratch elbows can really be a pain but that can be helped with a little honey. After you’ve washed and dried your dry elbows take some honey and rub it onto your elbows. Let the honey sit on your skin for about 30 minutes and then wash the honey off. You’ll be surprised at just how soft your elbows will feel after that.

Make Your Hair Less Frizzy and Add More Shine

If you have frizzy hair after you wash it you can help your hair with a little honey. After you wash your hair in the shower take a little honey and coat the ends of your hair. Leave it on for a few minutes and then rinse your hair one more time. Your hair will be a lot less frizzy and more conditioned. You can also make your hair brighter and shinier by taking one teaspoon of honey and add it to one quart of water and after you have washed your hair just pour this honey mixture over your head as a rinse and let it dry. You’ll be surprised at how shiny your hair will be.
